Rory + Rexton

Elizabeth and I had a whole other plan for photographing her beautiful boys. How it was supposed to happen was ... she was going to be able to make it until May, deliver her babies in a perfectly memorable way, and I would come in and photograph them still in the hospital for a Fresh 48 session and help her introduce the world to her babies.

What happened instead... well, sometimes (most of the time) birth is never what anyone plans for and it's a messy and chaotic and unpredictable. Surprise. Elizabeth had just that. Following a blood draw, it was noted Elizabeth may have been experiencing HELLP Syndrome, the most severe form of pre-eclampsia. It consists of hemolysis (breakdown of red blood cells), elevated liver enzymes (wacky liver functioning), and low platelet counts (platelets are necessary for blood to clot). HELLP Syndrome affects about 0.2% to 0.6% of all pregnancies. What are the odds you have twins... and an extremely rare medical condition on top of it? Someone should be buying lotto tickets...

Despite all the set backs, Elizabeth was able to give birth to two healthy SIX pound baby boys: Rory and Rexton. But can you tell who is who...
